ASHEVILLE, NC (AP) -- Asheville police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was hit by three vehicles and then dragged about four miles.
Police say the male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle about 7 p.m. Monday. The driver pulled over but the victim was hit by two other vehicles. The pedestrian was lodged under the third vehicle and dragged for several miles.
Officer Ann Fowler says the driver of the minivan did not realize she had hit someone. Fowler says the driver thought she had a flat tire.
The victim's name has not been released while relatives are notified.
Fowler says she thinks the rain made it hard for drivers to see.
She says investigators will talk with the District Attorney's Office about possible charges.
